City Tour based on the Nazi History of Berlin

This tour through Berlin is focusing on the Nazi History of the German Capital. Thus your tour will lead you to the "Third Reich Government Quarter" where you will see the site of the Gestapo headquarter, the site of the New Reichs Chancellory and the site of Hitler's Bunker. Furthermore, your tour will include a visit to the Topography of Terror Memorial. The permanent exhibition “Topography of Terror: Gestapo, SS and Reich Security Main Office on Wilhelm- and Prinz-Albrecht-Straße” focuses on the central institutions of the SS and police during the “Third Reich” and the crimes that they committed throughout Europe. This tour is truly tracing back to the terrible incidents of our past.

Morning

After breakfast enjoy a leisurly walking tour passing by the most important attractions such as the Brandenburger Gate, the Reichstagsbuilding, Potsdamer Platz, Gendarmenmarkt or the Holocaust Memorial.
Lunch on your own in the city centre.

Afternoon

Transfer to the former Stasi Prison Hohenschönhausen and visit to the former prison.

Stasi Prison Hohenschönhausen

Upon arrival at the Memorial Hohenschönhausen you will get a cinematic introduction about the 44- year history of the prison grounds and its role in the system of political persecution in the GDR. Following, you will see the new prison, which was finished in 1960.  In the course of this part you can go trough all stations of detention - from submission via the fingerprinting procedures to interrogation. The tour ends in the so-called tiger cages, where the practice of supervised "free passage“ is explained. The tour is usually conducted by one of the more than 70 honorary speakers of which the majority are witnesses who can report on the prison also from their own experience.
