Old Town Walking Tour

City Walk - Josefov, the Jewish Quarter of Prague

Prague's Jewish Quarter, also known as Josefov, dates back to the 13th century when Jewish people were ordered to vacate their homes and to settle only in this area. This tour focuses on Prague's Jewish past and present. Besides visiting the Jewish Museum and the Old Jewish Cemetery, you will also discover the magnificent Old-New Synagogue, the oldest preserved synagogue in Central Europe.

Kutná Hora and Hrádek

This excursion takes you east of Prague to the town of Kutná Hora, which was founded in the 12th century as a mining settlement. Ever since the 13th century, its history has been inseparably linked to the mining of silver ores. The historic city centre with the late-gothic St. Barbara's Church and the baroque gothic Cathedral of Our Lady is an architectural jewel that you will also admire in the course of your tour. Then the tour continues to Hrádek where you will visit the Czech Museum of Silver and the Medieval Silver Mine. A tour through the Medieval Silver Mine will introduce the whole process through which the silver ore had passed until a silver coin was struck. Further, you will get acquainted with the medieval technology of mining, processing raw silver and mining coinage.

Cesky Budejovice, the largest city in South Bohemia, is particularly famous for its beer brands. Elegant bourgeois houses edge one of Europe's biggest market places, an excellent brewery - Cesky Budejovice is a city that has preserved its historic character though the centuries. Therefore, Cesky Budejovice forms the modern centre of a beautiful, picturesque bohemian region. After a leisurely stroll through the city centre you will enjoy a guided tour through the brewery. The tour then continues to the picturesque town of Cesky Krumlov with its impressive castle and then back to Prague.

Karlstejn Castle was built by the Czech King and Roman Emperor Charles IV in order to store the royal treasury there. Besides the crown jewels one can admire the 129 panel paintings by the great master Theodoricus. Until today the panel paintings is a worldwide unique preserved Gothic gallery and more than worth seeing. After a guided tour through the premises making you acquainted with its history, you return to Prague.
