Old Pinakothek
The Alte Pinakothek presents more than 700 paintings by famous artists such as Dürer, da Vinci, Rembrandt or Rubens. A highlight forms the so called "Rubenshall" which displays paintings more than six meters high. At the time of completion, the Alte Pinakothek was the largest museum constructed. Yet, during the Second World War, it was heavily damaged and its reconstruction controversially discussed.

New Pinakothek
The New Pinakothek provides an overview of the periods of European art from the Enlightenment until the beginning of modernity. Thereby, emphasis is placed on Classicism, Romanticism, Art Nouveau and Impressionism. The artworks are among others by artists such as Goya, Monet, Van Gogh, Rodin and Klimt.
